French Victorian Brass and Mahogany Rolling Ink Blotter

French Victorian Brass and Mahogany Rolling Ink Blotter

This ink blotter was once a common desk accessory, and is designed to be rolled gently across freshly applied ink. This is an exquisite example of a rocking ink roller and has an heavily ornate brass upper and knob and mahogany lower. The colors of both the wood and the brass are bright, and their finishes in great condition for the item’s age. The design is rococo revival, with billowing swirls that are loosely based on fauna, and create two faces on either side of the center knob.
