Early McCoy 1930s Mottled Vellum Turquoise Vase

Early McCoy 1930s Mottled Vellum Turquoise Vase

Designed, produced and hand-glazed in 1935, this Art Deco beauty bears the classic hallmarks of the era. It is ear-like handles flanking either side of its bulbous body, its mouth opening a smaller diameter than its base. The surface of the piece has dimples here and there, where the quality of the clay is on full display. It is glazed with a turquoise green color, mottled with a deep beige-brown, a style very popular during the 1930s. The entire vase is covered in a satin finish that balances out the matte nature of the glaze’s pigmentation. The base is unmarked, as were all pieces made by Nelson McCoy during this period. This vase is guaranteed a genuine early McCoy Pottery piece.
