1954-1960 Van Briggle Handled Pitcher Signed "Anna"

1954-1960 Van Briggle Handled Pitcher Signed "Anna"

24.00

Classically mid century modern with a slender neck and bulbous base, this ewer style pitcher was produced in a partnership between the Dryden Pottery Company and the Van Briggle Pottery Company sometime between 1954-1960. During these years, Dryden, a company that was known for its intense, high-gloss glazing techniques, produced wares for Van Briggle. The pieces are all signed “Anna” in honor of one of Van Briggle’s original founders. For a bit more about the history of Van Briggle pottery, click here.

This pitcher bears a sweeping form, wherein its single handle flows seamlessly from the base to the mouth opening. Glazed in a rich black and dipped with a ‘lava’ style silvery-blue and white glaze at the opening, this piece’s design sets it apart from the more traditional forms that the company produced prior to 1950.

The mouth does have a small chip but the pitcher is in perfect condition otherwise. It is totally usable as is, its time-kissed feature not at all detracting from the piece’s overall aesthetic. Dress up your mantel with the deep drama this pitcher packs, or place on a shelf for a interesting conversation piece. Use while entertaining or as a flower vase, too. This is the affordable, highly collectible mid mod accent you’ve been searching for.
