1960s Susan Gail Designer Genuine Leather Handbag

1960s Susan Gail Designer Genuine Leather Handbag

Susan Gail handbags had distinctly sleek, modern Mid-Century designs that made these “utilitarian” objects into works of wearable art that reflected the cultural, social and global advancements of the era. This handbag features a 100% leather outer and woven cotton inner, and mixes strong, hard lines with elegant curvatures. It may be described as a shoulder-bag with a clasp closure, much like a strapless clutch. Its exterior is framed by considerate seaming and the delicate meeting point of layered leather and stitching. The leather and brass detailing have no visible signs of patina or use. The stamped gilded label, impressed below the zippered interior pocket, reads, “BELLIDO, MADE IN SPAIN, FOR SUSAN GAIL, GENUINE LEATHER”.
