Mid-Century Japanese Etched Brass Bud Vase

Mid-Century Japanese Etched Brass Bud Vase

This etched brass bud vase is a mid-century Japanese import. Oriental themes rose to popularity during this time, in part due to Eastern minimalist aesthetic and focus on necessity of function before form. Though small, this vase manifests those stylistic elements that were so highly valued and widely emulated in the Mid-Century movement. This brass vase is classified as a footed pear-shaped bottle vase. It features a series of etched irises around the entirety of its surface, and a trumpet lip-opening. It is heavier in weight, indicating that it is likely pure brass.
