Chain and Diamond Pattern Woven Cane Basket with Layered Rim

Chain and Diamond Pattern Woven Cane Basket with Layered Rim

This woven basket tray is woven outward from a center point and features a central dominant design set at a four-sided diagonal. The outermost rim of the basket is shaped bamboo, forming a lip. The basket is woven with cane strips, some dyed a deep brownish-black to contrast with the undyed strips in a linked chain and diamond pattern. This pattern is reminiscent of a common Native American Cherokee design. It may be used as a tabletop tray or as a decorative wall hanging, its motif striking however displayed.
