c. 1940s Bohemian Cut to Clear Etched Amber Glass Single Candleholder

c. 1940s Bohemian Cut to Clear Etched Amber Glass Single Candleholder

True to the style of the Czechoslovakian Egermann company, this single candleholder bears the time-honored process of glass-cutting and hand-etching practice for which Czechoslovakian artisans are famous. This piece is considered to be Bohemian Czech amber glass. This candlestick holder boasts a wheat-gold glass, the hue of which is known most widely as  amber glass, which is made using sulfur, carbon, and iron salts. It is believed to be blown glass with hand-etched pastoral scenes that include trees, shrubbery, deer, and foxes, along with house-like structures with flags billowing from their roofs. These scenes are interspersed, and accentuated by, checked line-work and dots, as well as swags along the base and upper rim.
